Graham’s Hobby Centre employee Jack Umenberger once again showed he is a talent to be reckoned with after he TQ’d and won the 2006 RC 1000 held by PDNR on
October 7. Jack was slightly off the pace in early qualifying while he was working on developing a race setup, but comfortably made the Top 10 Shootout finishing 8th.
Jack capitalised on a mistake by the
provisional pole man Michael Turner to secure the number one spot at the end of the Top 10 Shootout with a 22.467 lap time.
For the 161 lap main event, Jack took a fairly conservative approach to ensure he would
be there at the end, and after leading early in the race dropped back to 4th place still in touch with the leaders. Jack hit the lead again after lap 32, and was unchallenged for the remainder of the race, eventually
finishing 5 laps up on the seconds place.
Well done to Jack & his Dad Brett (Pit Crew)
